My Vision for a Bright Educational Future

My vision for KISD School Board is cultivating a positive and supportive environment where every teacher feels respected, and every student can excel.

Vision & Goals

  • Single-member voting districts: Keller is a very large and diverse school district. Voters should have the opportunity to elect School Board Trustees who reflect their community.
  • School Funding: We must insist that the Texas Legislature fully fund our PUBLIC schools before they use taxpayer dollars for private school tuition. No vouchers/ESAs etc. until public schools have fully recovered from the effects of inflation and chronic underfunding.
  • Teacher Retention: Key to the long-term success of Keller ISD. We must show these education professionals the respect they deserve - not micromanage them.
  • Special Education: We should set the goal as a school district of having the best special education services in our state. This can be done by building on our partnership with the business community and dedicating a large and compassionate share of those resources to special education.
  • Maintaining our Schools: Keller ISD is years behind in calling a bond election. Taking care of our facilities is taking care of our teachers, staff and students. We can not continue to allow our board to use the money designated to teach our students to pay for large building expenses nor can they continue to neglect our buildings.

Leadership Matters

A good leader sees things as they truly are with objective clarity, and holds out a vision of how they can be. Both of these components of leadership are equally important. Keller ISD is at a major inflection point for our schools and our sense of community. We must decide whether we will continue as a public school system, or go down the path of school privatization. Public schools are threatened by chronic underfunding, and vouchers will only make the situation worse. Local school boards have been captured by partisan politicians who sew division and disrespect. Hate is not a Keller ISD value. Nobody has to justify who they are.

The way forward is to refocus on educational outcomes and leave divisive politics behind. Teachers are not here to enforce gender identity politics, they are here to teach.

As a Trustee of a public school district, I will insist that our public schools are fully funded before any taxpayer dollars go to private schools. Private schools have their place, but they do not have to accept all students and are not held accountable to the same standards as our public schools.

I will bring my leadership experiences from the military, civilian, and nonprofit sectors to put the objective first – academic achievement. Our education professionals – teachers, librarians, and administrators – are fully capable of doing their job. My role will be to support them, encourage them, and insure they have all the resources we can provide.

Good leaders listen more than they talk. I will seek input from parents and educators, not partisan politicians, to best manage the resources of the district.
